The Laundry Market – A Battleground For Superpowers
Introduction:
Over the last few years, the raw materials cost of cleansing agents has been consistently increasing. Automatically, it increases the overall cost of production and ends up with a price hike in our local market. The pandemic exacerbated the situation and posed only new challenges. However, this inflation has an international link; it is less to do with market forces and more to do with international economic warfare.
Capturing Markets:
Since the 20th century, the USA and the European countries were the dominant players in the production of the cleansing agents, they reaped early benefits and captured markets across the globe and they continue to absorb large proportion of profits. Successively, this generated apprehension among other industrial countries, especially with China. As an emerging superpower China, it wants to dominate the world in a multitude of ways, so it ensures itself on the profit side in this issue. The pandemic translated the face-off between US & China to a multi-level trade war.
The rising China
Recently, China has shut down its cleansing agent production facilities, deceiving the world by downplaying its output. It directly affected the hegemony of the US in this sphere, yet the US chose to be prudent. The trade war has direct implications upon India and its laundry market because cleansing agent production in India is not self-reliant. The Indian companies still depend upon European nations, US & China for ingredients in manufacturing cleansing agents.
The vulnerable factor
The rift between raw material exporting countries causes raw material deficiency & surges in transportation costs. The price hike of cleansing agents in our local market is a direct consequence of these international trade wars. Unfortunately, Indian companies are ill-prepared to tackle this challenge eventually it suffers during international speculations.
The role of Indians
Having said that the whole issue may look nothing to do with Indians unfortunately it is not true. Our bereft of creativity, critical thinking & entrepreneurship skills are exposed here especially among educated Indian youth. The colonial education policy with modifications is still followed in India. This education policy prioritizes memory-based learning and isolates other skills including problem-solving, cognitive flexibility and emotional intelligence, etc.
British education system
Unsurprisingly, this system of education was designed by the British to fulfil their colonial ambitions thus it has nothing to do with nurturing Indian minds conversely it distances Indians from their rich culture, heritage & scientific tradition and makes them feel inferior. Unless there is a structural reform in the education system Indian minds will remain in the colonial era, sadly it is a reality in India.
National Interest
Another crucial factor is patriotism. This can be a uniting & guiding force to bridle multiple challenges. It overshadows differences and unites everyone to achieve a common goal. If an entrepreneur is charged with patriotism puts national interest above his own, he will bring innovative & creative solutions to various problems above all it could an indigenous one. Predictably, it takes time.
The Dya-Green way
Dya-Green considering all the above-mentioned challenges, charts out its way. Its raw material procurement is mostly associated with India. Henceforth its production of cleansing agents remains unruffled during International economic warfare. Besides, our team is spending time & effort to find original & indigenous solutions for various laundry problems. It is time to make India great again!
